Mark has assisted individuals, couples, families, and organizations throughout his career by helping clients reduce barriers to and by facilitating elements of healthy growth, functioning, and the achievement of goals.
Mark works collaboratively with clients for he doesn't feel that he's an expert on anyone else's life. He believes that therapists and clients learn together what works, and by the work clients do in therapy, it is hoped that they will reach the goals that they set for themselves at that very first session.
Mark has been a private practitioner since 2012, and working with people therapeutically since 1987. He has earned both a master's degree in psychology in 1994 from Antioch University Seattle and a master's of business administration in 2003 from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. He utilizes a variety of approaches, tailored to each client's presenting problems, founded mostly the foundation of marriage and family therapy or systems based therapeutic work. Therapy modalities may also include: Solution focused therapy, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, rational emotive behavioral therapy, substance abuse counseling and other evidence based methods as well as depth-based psychotherapies when warranted.
Mark specializes in the treatment of addiction and is currently focused on working with couples. He also treats individuals with depression, anxiety, loss and grief, ADHD, OCD, and trauma. He consults in the area of organizational change and is currently on the board of Seniors Helping Seniors, Commencement Bay, an organization in Pierce County that assists seniors remain in their homes with the assistance of caregivers.
Mark offers 15 minutes of free consultation to anyone that has general questions regarding his approaches to therapy, specific questions regarding his practice or information regarding organizational consulting and associated fees.
Mark loves to ski, boat, golf, read and listen to music. He is an avid motorcycle enthusiast, scuba diver, and loves the Hawaiian Islands.
